Namco Bandai reveals new co-op shooter

Gravity-bending shooter, Inversion, for 360/PS3 in 2010
Namco Bandai has lifted the lid on a new co-op third-person shooter titled 'Inversion', headed for 360 and PS3 next year.

In development at Saber Interactive (TimeShift), the plot sees world peace brought to an end by the invasion of an unknown enemy called the Lutadore, who wield a futuristic gravity-bending weapon. You take control of Davis Russel, a hotheaded 28-year-old cop, or Leo Delgado, Davis' neighbour, to sort them out.

Players will use the Grappler weapon to manipulate gravity in combat and to overcome obstacles. "Grappler can be used in countless combat situations by maneuvering massive objects as shields or projectiles, and moving camped enemies out of concealed cover so they can be blasted away," explains Namco Bandai.

"The Grappler is also a key tool for tactical situations and puzzle solving as players can lift, move, or create cover objects." The game also features massively destructible environments powered by the fairly new Havok Destruction engine.

"We are doing things in Inversion that most people didn't think possible on the current generation of consoles," reckons CEO of Saber Interactive, Matthew Karch.

Ill wait until I see some Gameplay videos and proper previews before getting too excited about it.

Looks interesting. Capcom are always worth keeping an eye on.

Looks like the bastard child of Infamous and Bionic Commando. And please Capcom, leave out the co-op in every game, you nearly destroyed RE5 with Sheva.

It's Namco, not Capcom lol.

I was duped!

I was just going to lambast Capcom for giving out good licences to shoddy programmers, ala Grin and Bionic Commando, but CVG have just realised that they made a mistake and changed it to Namco Bandai. Doh!
Still don't think the makers of Timeshift can do anything great though.
