SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton says we're "in the midst of one of the most exciting times for PlayStation" as the company goes on to "redefine entertainment experiences".
"We are in the midst of one of the most exciting times for PlayStation as we continue to redefine entertainment experiences for consumers, both at home and on the go," said Tretton, who seems pretty pleased with how things are going.
"We've made unprecedented strides in digital and mobile entertainment with the availability of PSPgo," he added, also touting the successful release of the slim PS3, and arrival of the critically acclaimed Uncharted 2, which he says "promises to be a system seller".

In NPD Group's September 2009 video game sales data, released today, the PS3 ranked as the top console sold for the month, beating out all our competitors. It was also the only hardware platform to realize an increase of 112% when compared to the same period last year.
"The PSPgo is driving additional momentum for the entire PSP platform. In its first three days on store shelves, top retail partners experienced a 300 percent lift in overall PSP hardware sales compared to the previous week. During this time, the PlayStation Network also experienced the largest number of downloads ever for a single week period."
Tretton concluded in the emailed statement: "There simply has never been a better time to be part of the PlayStation family and we look forward to providing you with the best entertainment content and experience for many, many years to come."

I may be wrong, but I believe Tretton was referring to global sales, and the fact that CVG posted yesterday(?) about the Wii and 360 outselling the PS3 was only referring to the UK.... No?

I was looking to VG chartz, as US is interesting, but Europe more so. When you look to FIFA 10, I was more surprised by the fact that the PS3 had sold more units than the 360 by 400K.

They’ve redefined the way I now shiver with the thought of an update after the last one bricked my ps3. Just lucky it wasn’t the hub of my home like they wanted. Still got a 100 quid out of me though but I got the last laugh as I told Sony no more. I had a choice on Saturday of a Samsung 50” plasma and a Sony 42” Bravia. Not a lot in price difference but as Sony screwed me with the PS3 the Samsung won. Better picture as well to be honest but it does go to show, companies can’t always screw around with the punter. We do have a choice.

There is a good reason for this though, like the PS3, Soccer is far more popluar in Europe than it is in the USA. If you look at a title like NBA 10 or NFL 10 then it swings back in favour of the 360

But isn't bayonetta also a ps3 game? Is cvg biased? after reading the headline on this article i believe so. I mean whenever Ninty or M$ sales do well CVG are happy to beat their chest and shout it of in a headline.

i have finally bought a ps3 afetr having a 360 for the past year i admit that the ps3 is a amazing machine and the graphics of some games are astounding but i still enjoy playing the 360 online its just so much easier

Yay! Now they can put out press releases about how the Wii's a gimmick, DLC is not, and is great despite retail discs being more popular, and how BD is the future despite the fact it will be replaced in the next console without a shadow of a doubt. <3 Sony, your pride and ego is spectacular.
