Monster Hunter Tri easier than previous games - Capcom

Has the series been dumbed down?
Capcom's Christian Svensson has admitted that Monster Hunter Tri has been made more accessible than previous games in the series.

Capcom's US VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom U.S. hopes that making the game easier to get into will make the game more appealing to western audiences.

"Monster Hunter, as a series, is a hard series to learn," Svensson told Gamesutra. "It is unforgiving and very, very complex to learn. Tri is a little bit easier to get into. There's a much gentler learning curve in Tri than there's ever been in any of the other Monster Hunters. That's not to say it's dumbed down, but it's much more accessible.

"It's a game form that should be perfectly approachable and perfectly acceptable by Western audiences, and by Wii owners specifically. It is a core game, and core games on Wii have had some challenges, but we also know we have a built-in Monster Hunter fan base that is small-ish, but they're going to push several hundred thousand units before we even touch anybody outside that.

"So, we've got high hopes for this. We really want to capture a more active Wii demographic. And the Wii is still -- in homes that own multiple consoles, the Wii is always there. There's no reason why these people shouldn't and couldn't be picking up Monster Hunter Tri to play."

Of course Nintendo will also be marketing the game in the US and the UK and Svensson believes that the game will benefit from a "massive marketing push, the likes of which I'm not sure anyone has seen on a Wii title from a third party."

What, advertising it on TV? Wink I still want the game, but with current mongerings that Aerosmith's London show tickets to be starting at Ł75, my plans have definitely been thrown in array.

I must see the 'smith!

If they mean the controls have been dumbed down then I'm all for it because imo the controlls on the psp versions are just crap.

To set everyones minds at ease the controls are perfect you can use the Wii remote and nunchuk "which I prefer", even though there are no motion controls or the classic controller which is also great. But the game itself is not easy the monsters obviously range in difficulty and when I played this with a couple other people we got absolutely slaughtered by a medium difficulty beast, also fighting underwater is definitely hard when youre being attacked by 2 large monsters and a giant one.
This game is fantastic I cant wait.

Jesus Christ CVG; "gentler learning curve" does not = "easier". Your misleading headline can make people not buy the game.
