EA Sports boss Peter Moore has said that the company has plenty of faith in Wii, and will continue to release major titles for the platform.
Speaking this week at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, he revealed that the EA Sports Active franchise has generated $125 million for the publisher, which has previously been criticised for over-investing in development for Nintendo's console.
"Still, as a company we're great believers in the Wii," Moore said, according to Gamasutra. "You'll see our major multiplatform launches still have a presence on the Wii. When we look at where we've been successful, it's been with specific experiences that are built around that consumer."
Moore noted that EA Sports Active is now one of the "top 20-selling... Wii titles of all time", and predicted the continued growth of what he called the "interactive fitness" genre.
"It's changing the model from a video game positioning to a fitness positioning," he said. "This is a $200 billion industry that we now start to play in. Titles that take advantage of motion, particularly with [Wii] MotionPlus, are really starting to resonate with the consumer."
We recently had a lengthy chat with Moore about all things EA, including the rise of FIFA and how he's brought EA closer to gamers. For that, check out the first part of CVG's Peter Moore interview. In the second instalment he told us why EA Sports' influence far outreaches gaming, and gave his opinion on OnLive and PS3 Motion Control.
Damn right, bring on the next Tiger Woods game theyre great but please please please EA fix whatever it is you did to Madden and Fifa because last years ones sucked. Cartoony graphics in sports games = no sale / low sales
