Sony has postponed the launch of its flagship racer, Gran Turismo 5, which will no longer be out in Japan in March as previously announced.
Most concerning is Sony's failure to set a new release date, leaving the games eventual release up in the air. This is the game we first hoped to see released in 2007. Then 2008. Look through our old news...

The delay has been put down to "production-related matters" according to Reuters. Although UK and US dates had not yet been set, series producer Kazunori Yamauchi had previously said they shouldn't deviate too far from the Japanese release.
We've asked Sony if the delay will affect its plans for the west. Looks like you'll have to make do with the recent GT5 demo for a while yet.
It's true enough though, the delays are now getting insane. It's one thing to promise to be the best racing game ever made, but it's quite another to actually deliver on it. Surely it'd be much better if they stopped announcing new features/cars and actually release what they have with the intention of patching in the missing stuff.
So far all we have are screens and gameplay from both Prologue and the new demo. No news on the WRC stuff they were so proud to announce. Nothing much about the NASCAR they were so proud to announce. So what's the point?
It is just a massive shame, because Sony were stepping in the right direction, especially with Uncharted 2 and (from the looks of it) God of War 3. But considering this is probably the single most anticipated release for the PS3, they have gone and undone a lot of the hard work that devs like Naughty Dog have done in bringing the PS3's standard of games above par.

If I were a Sony exec, I'd be highly embarassed.
A 1 month delay in Japan has gone and undone all the hard work by Naughty Dog et al! What a stupid statement. You're easily embarrassed.

Give it to us already!
You're thinking of Turn 10, Dajmin. PD have never said anything of the sort.
Tbh, it seems rather childish of folk to make such a fuss over the release date, of which I don't think I have actually seen a confirmed date for any territory.
It's the media that has caused the fans confusion.
And in the 'biggest year for gaming', surely we'll all manage another few months without GT5.

Any delay on a game that finally had a release date after 5 years of development and was continually put back is an embarassment, especially this close to release.
If DNF had a release date set after all this time, and then at the last minute 3DRealms came out and said "yeah, we need another month to tweak", would you not find that ridiculous?
But point me in the direction of a direct quote that states it's just a month, please?
They need to delay it longer than a month!! I was really looking forward to playing this game but the demo was disappointing. Graphics were average and car handled like a piece of crap. I was ready for this game to smash the hell out of Forza 3, but at the moment it has a long way to go. And for a racing game to have X as its accelerator ha-ha. (ok maybe you can change it in the options - haven’t looked yet ) Hopefully they will prove me wrong and release an amazing finished product.

And I think you're confusing Dajmin with Peter Molyneux. I don't remember him ever claiming to be Molyneux or ever saying 2010 would be the 'biggest year of gaming'.

The only embarrassment is the fuss people are making over something that they obviously aren't interested in anyway.
I suppose you're all going to slag off Robert Zemeckis when hoverboards aren't made available in 2015....

A 1 month delay.
But ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one. Regardless, my statement still stands.

I am. I've been waiting for that moment most of my life, it doesn't happen I will blame all of the people involved in Back To The Future for one of the biggest lies history has ever seen. Fact.

I was more disappointed in him when I found out the Bubbagump Shrimps wasn't a real company, and had been fabricated for the purposes of the film.
The restaurants still do nice fried shrimp, though.

I WANT MY f**king HOVERBOARD NOW!
f**king BOB ZEMECKIS.. t**t!
Calm down, I am sure that they have been busy working on ways to mass produce the boards that they used in the film, after all they looked pretty close to production models. It is probably the battery technology that is letting them down. After all in the studio setting the batteries would not need to last that long.
The delays for this game have gone beyond a joke now. The PSP game was the same. What are PD playing at? Ridiculous.
I agree that the wait for this game has been crazy, but really this is actually the first delay. March is the ONLY offical release date EVER set by Sony for GT5, everything people have heard otherwise is mere speculation.
