I think the time trial was excellent, if slightly unforgiving. I played forza 3 on my brothers xbox and thought it was one step up from an arcade experience. The time trial felt like a genuine sim to me. One thing I did notice is that the time trial was missing depth of field, motion blur, bloom etc which are present in all these trailers. I hope these effects actually make it into the final game.
Is that some kind of user created paint job on the car? If it is, then i guess this bodes well for individuality online. Nice looking car too, and no tire marks on the road even after drifting across it, lol.
You're right, perhaps you didn't notice how there wasn't a single view from the c**kpit or external driving view?
Replay mode perhaps, lots of shiny cars but still a bland track and bland scenery. Do Polyphony not know that cars create skid marks when going sideways?

It's a good job someone pointed that out for you earlier in the comments.
just to have my say about the handling in the gt acadmey demo, if you look in the car settings you will see that the handling physics are locked in "professional" mode. Now when I was playing prolouge I always played in standard physics, as did most of us (who arnt digital driving gods or masochists).
As the demo is looking for the next gt acedmey contestants they want the best in the most realistic trial possaible. The handling in gt5 will be like the demo, but only if you want it!!
I for one can attest to the fact that the last racing game that I saw with interesting backgrounds was Apex racing on Xbox, albeit the game wasn't simulator, but the backgrounds we're very detailed. No idea why PD doesn't take photos of the courses on track days, so they can put general eye candy to keep the scenery from looking to sterile, why don't the tress sway in the breeze on the Nur? All we get is the grass by the side of the road that gets blown down by the passing cars, neat little effect, but a little more could go a long way to ease the sense of driving in a vacuum for 12 miles. I don't care too much for tire marks as they are aesthetic but they do add to drifting and well are just plain supposed to be there. Still neither will stop me from purchasing the game, I'm pretty into my driving games, playing the PSP GT right now, have Forza 3 for later on only awaiting GT5 and all it's cars, options baby, love having options.

Just as well I posted that well before christmas then isn't it?....along with every other video/demo/prologue clip that has never shown it either.
Lucky for you, I noticed that there isn't a single view in the game that the player can actually use for driving though....because you seem to be confused with replay modes and in-game graphics...it's still not going to stop you from soiling your pants by the looks of things though.

not buying it now. theyve completely over cooked it and are left with something that i really dont want. if this flops i suspect it will potentially be the nail in the coffin. 5 years to deliver.. needs to be perfect.
There's no doubt this game will be worth the wait! All the Whiners that actually own a ps3 will still buy it when it comes out! As for 360 people that have said it looks bland those are the people that will be crying into their beer or for most of them their bedtime milk! when this beauty comes out. Yep this year is going to be great for the shiny black machine! Xbox needs a new machine because its falling like a brick! Maybe call the next one a Zbox as people will be sleeping by the time Ms reaches the top again!!
