NPD: Nintendo software dominates December

New Super Mario Bros. Wii almost hitting 3 million sales
Nintendo will be patting itself of the back after dominating December software sales in the US, as the latest NPD figures show.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii flew off shelves, with almost 3 million copies snapped up by retro-hungry gamers (see Nintendo? Gamers love it. More please!).

Selling only marginally less, Wii Fit Plus secured second spot for Nintendo, with Wii Sports Resort in third. Suddenly Modern Warfare 2's 1.63 million sales doesn't seem too impressive down there in fourth.

Anyway, here's the full list:

01. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii) - 2.82 million
02. Wii Fit Plus (Wii) - 2.41 million
03. Wii Sports Resort (Wii) - 1.79 million
04. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360) - 1.63 million
05. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) - 1.12 million
06. Wii Play (Wii) - 1.01 million
07. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 936,100
08. Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360) - 783,100
09. Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360) - 728,500
10. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS) - 656,700

New Super Mario Bros wii is all kinds of awesome, and deserves to do these kinds of numbers!

Not being funny, but why do we keep getting flooded with info on U.S console & software sales all the time, and not the U.K sales?

Still I'm happy to see a old fashioned 2D style game at the top of the sales charts, it shows that good old gameplay is still key to a great game, and no I don't think it would have been better in HD Laughing

Because the UK company Chart trac I think dont release the actual figures to commoners, they only release chart postions.

Also for multi platform games they dont even say which platform sold better.

Looks like Reggie was right (or is so far anyway)

Well if Mario Kart is still selling like that, good enough to be in the top ten charts and all, then I wouldn't doubt what he said, and that came out around April/May 2008, NSMBW only came out 2 months ago. Shocked
YCshinobi on 15 Jan '10
And to think people scoffed when that analyst predicted lifetime sales of 15m for NSMBWii...

... and I still haven't got around to buying it!
