The suspect in a barricade situation near a Phoenix elementary school was taken into custody by SWAT officials on Wednesday afternoon.

The barricade had forced the lockdown of Wilson Elementary School at 30th and Filmore streets, directly across the street from the apartment complex where the standoff occurred.

Phoenix police officials had believed the suspect was armed and said shots had been fired before police arrived.

The barricade lasted for about two hours before police went into the apartment to pull out the suspect.

It's unclear what charges the suspect will face or what prompted the barricade.
