A Phoenix elementary school teacher is under investigation for sexual abuse and kidnapping.

Darrell Begay, 34, was arrested by Phoenix police last week and placed on administrative leave from Lowell Elementary School.

The alleged victim is a 9-year-old girl.

Detectives said they received a call from a parent who said her daughter was inappropriately touched by Begay.

Detectives investigated and developed probable cause to arrest Begay.

Detectives are also looking into the possibility there may be other victims.

Begay has been a teacher at Lowell for nine years. The school is in the Phoenix Elementary School District.
