LOOKING GLASS

MUMBAI
Restaurant
Looks like the newly opened Rewind restaurant in Mumbai takes it location opposite a popular cinema very seriously-this Sarovar Park Plaza-owned 52-cover eatery is designed totally around the Hollywood theme. So, you have an entire wall with pictures of Hollywood stars and another crammed with movie posters. Food is a choice between Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Austrian, and Thai. (Try their Polish-style Roasted Pizza.) On Wednesday evening you can catch Jazzy Joe, who claims to have played for US President Bill Clinton. Meal for two: Rs 600 (without alcohol). Call (022) 207-7575.

CHENNAI
Store
Love pricey bric-a-brac? Lladro (pronounced Yaadro), specialising in intricately carved porcelain figurines, is now available at Swarovski in Chennai. Coming straight from the kilns of Almacera, Spain, the figurines are available in 4,000 different styles. They also have something special for India: Indian kids on elephants. And don't worry if the quaint "Tea in the Garden" piece costs Rs 3.18 lakh-insurance is available. Call (044) 824-2376.

DELHI
Music
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, India Today is bringing a host of classical virtuosos, many of them from Pakistan, to Central Park, Connaught Place for a five-night music carnival, Swar Utsav. Organised in association with the NDMC and CP's traders, the festival, from November 29 to December 3, hopes to give impetus to the cultural (and commercial) regeneration of cp (all shops timing will be extended to 8:30 p.m. during the five days). Seen on stage will be luminaries Shiv Kumar Sharma, Zakir Hussain and Begun Abida Parveen. Music Today will also release live recordings of the event. Call (011) 335-2233.

Orthodoxy in economic thought is as odious as obscurantism in the socio-religious context. INDIA TODAY Associate Editor, V Shankar Aiyar, offers a contrarian take on the stock markets and the cause and the impact of policy and practice. Au ContrAiyar.
