From the Will, John WHITTLE had another son, also called John. He married a Mary ... and they had a son Edward. Edward was supposedly the last Whittle in Toller Fratrum DOR and he died on 21 Sep 1875.
The 1881 Census data provides the following information:
Francis was working as a Carpenter and Joiner for a company which fitted out hotels and inns and it seems the company still exists in the Cardiff area of Wales. At Census time, the rest of Francis' family were living at Rose Cottage, St John Street, Bridgwater SOM. Mary (no given maiden name), his wife, was a dressmaker, aged 27, born at Biddleshome SOM (is this Biddisham SOM?).
The children living at that address were —
Elizabeth, age 8, scholar, born East Brent SOM: Maude M., age 5, born at North Petherton SOM: Tom M., age 2, born at Bridgwater SOM: Ellen, age 9 months, born Bridgwater SOM.
Some time after 1881, the family moved from Bridgwater SOM to Penarth GLA WLS. Francis continued working for the hotel fitting company in South Wales. Francis and Mary went on to have more children — Ethel b.c1896: Gladys; Bert; Ernest Walker (husband's GF); Stanley.
Stanley was the only son to survive WW1 — Tom M. KIA 1916; Bert KIA 1914: Ernest Walker died age 29 on 5 May 1915 in Belgium.
Carol has been helped with some of the information by her father in law, aged 92. She would greatly appreciate any assistance given about the family and their ancestors when they were in SOM.

George Bragg OXFORD was baptised in Piddlehinton DOR in 1805 as the first born son of Joseph OXFORD and Martha nee ADAMS. Joseph Oxford was most likely an ordained CofE Clergyman who served communities in the area around Piddlehinton Parish and further afield, out as far as Holnest DOR. George had sisters; Hannah bp 11 Jan 1811 Piddlehinton; Martha bp 2 Oct 1814 Holnest DOR, possibly dying young; Martha bp 28 Feb 1815 Piddlehinton DOR - m. Francis Tizard 28 Mar 1835. There may have been other siblings.
It appears that George was also studying for CofE ordination. He and his father had an argument over some aspect of this career. He departed for Newfoundland, possibly when he was about the age of 25 years and his father disinherited him. It could be that George Oxford joined the Wesleyan Methodists and gave up his CofE training because in Newfoundland he was known to be a Wesleyan Methodist local preacher. He taught singing and played string instruments. He married in Newfoundland sometime about the 1830s to Martha YOUNG and they had a family of 12 children.
One of the sons was Francis Tizzard Oxford born 14 Dec 1840, Kim's 2xGGF. He seems to have had an elder brother born c1838. The naming of Francis is interesting, as his sister Martha had a Francis Tizard as her husland in Dorset. George died in Newfoundland and was buried at Little Bay Islands NFLD.
Kim would be delighted to find ancestral connections in Dorset and any descendants of the family who remained there. She is also seeking any information about George Oxford, his father Joseph, the religious followings and any background about the family breakup. She would be prepared to share any information on the Oxford family that she has for NFLD.
Michael's GF James Lowry was the son of Elizabeth Lowry nee Whiffen whose father Herbert Whiffen had emigrated to Come-by-Chance, Placentia Bay NF as a young man also from Sturminster-Marshall DOR. They had settled at Placentia Bay NF which is a couple of hundred miles south of Fogo Island. The early Whiffen folk were of Methodist faith but later in the three marriages of Herbert Whiffen, they became of Catholic faith. How this all came about is another story which Michael will have to tell interested folk.
Michael would be delighted to have some further information about his ancestors from the UK. He still has relations of his mother in Devon. Her ancestors moved to Newfoundland from Devon as planters in about 1734.
The possible ancestors of Robert (b.1753) from the earliest are:
Robert LINFIELD (b. pre 1708 Trull SOM) married 1727 at Almesford SOM to Grace GRAY of Castle Cary SOM. They had the following children: Robert (bp.19 Sep 1731, Baltonsborough SOM), Lucy (bp.12 Mar 1735), Alfred (bp.8 Feb 1737), Joseph (bp.17 Jun 1741) - the last three at Saint Denys, Warminster WIL.
Robert LINFIELD (bp.1731) married Ebet DEAN on 3 Jan 1752 at Holy Trinity Church, Shaftesbury DOR.
They had son Robert LINFIELD (b.1753 Marnhull DOR) who married Grace PITMAN (as listed above) and apparently had 11 children, several of whom died young.
One son was another Robert LINFIELD (b.1774 in Marnhull DOR) who emigrated to Twillingate in Newfoundland Canada.
Alan would be grateful for any assistance that can be offered in sorting out this ancestral linkage. He is Secretary of the Lin(d)field One Name Group, researching Linfield, Lindfield, Lingfield, Linkfield, Linville and variants worldwide.
Family notes passed down indicate that Richard had both army and navy experience, also serving in the King Phillips War, an Indian uprising.
Aubrey has found Dwelley family members in Taunton SOM in the late 1600s and early 1700s in the records of St Mary's Church but has yet to find Richard Dwelley's birthplace. Any advice and assistance would be gratefully received and acknowledged.

Susan wishes to find something about her 2xGGF in terms of places and dates and his ancestry. The family seems have been mostly centred on Melbury Osmond DOR during all of these generations.
Grace's mother worked for the Pethick-Lawrence family for quite a few years. She was given a vase dated about 1887 with the initials WP over the date. On the front is a picture of two young girls in fancy dress, one of whom was Lady Pethick-Lawrence. The vase was bequeathed to Grace who would welcome help in obtaining the names of the Pethick-Lawrence children.
