Remember, People Do Watch Cable Access!

“I saw ‘Meet Your Meat’ on TV in San Francisco, and I couldn’t believe what happens to these animals. I haven’t eaten meat in a year and a half, and I’m cutting eggs and milk out of my diet. I feel healthier and I feel good that I’m not contributing to cruelty. Thanks for opening my eyes.”

While public access stations do not track the number of viewers who tune in, PETA and other animal rights groups receive numerous letters, e-mail messages, and phone calls from people who say that their lives were changed by pro-animal programs on cable access stations. Recently, we received an e-mail message from a man in California, who wrote, “I was somewhat of a jock/frat boy growing up, and I always ate meat without really thinking much about it. But a couple years ago I saw ‘Meet Your Meat’ on TV in San Francisco, and I couldn’t believe what happens to these animals. I haven’t eaten meat in a year and a half, and I’m cutting eggs and milk out of my diet. I feel healthier and I feel good that I’m not contributing to cruelty. Thanks for opening my eyes.” We have heard from hundreds of people echoing similar sentiments.

The more people we can reach in their living rooms with a message of compassion, the more people are going to explore a cruelty-free lifestyle. The instructions above may seem lengthy, but getting videos on cable access is really fairly simple (most of the work is finding out the station’s requirements). And once you get started, it is very easy to air additional videos. Remember that you will be reaching thousands of people, which makes cable access one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to advocate for animals. Thank you for your dedication to animals.
