Foes run wild against 'Hawks
Chad Brown
Brown
The Seahawks strength going into this season was supposed to be their defense. But against a couple of the league's most prolific offenses, Seattle has been pushed all over the field. Edgerrin James set a Colts team record with 219 yards as the Seahawks lost 37-24 on Sunday. Seattle is giving up the most yards per game (362.5) in the AFC. "Things have not been going right at all," linebacker Chad Brown told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "We did not do our part in any way."

  • Donahoe: Huard should remain the starter
    Tuesday, October 17
Brock Huard appears to have a great deal of potential based on Sunday's performance. He seems to be more comfortable in the pocket than Jon Kitna, and has the ability to throw the ball up the field. He lacks experience and because of this, he is learning on the fly. Coach Holmgren seems to be more comfortable with Huard at QB, and you can probably expect to see him there for the rest of the season.
Tom Donahoe is ESPN.com's NFL analyst.

    Tuesday Morning Quarterback
You have to wonder if Mike Riley takes roll call. That's one of the things we pondered in Week 7.

CB Willie Williams' fumble recovery against Indianapolis in the second quarter snapped a 22-quarter drought without a fumble recovery, dating back to the season opener in Miami, according to the Seattle Times.

    NEWS AND NOTES
  • Seattle's defense, which is giving up an average of 382 yards per game, ranks 29th in the NFL.
  • TE Christian Fauria, who missed the exhibition season and regular-season opener with a stained hamstring, pulled a groin muscle Sunday against the Colts, will be listed as questionable this week, the Seattle Times reported.
  • WR Derrick Mayes will wear a protective splint on his dislocated finger but is expected to return to practice Wednesday after a two-game layoff, the Seattle Times reported.
  • QB Brock Huard will play against the Raiders next Sunday. An MRI test performed Monday showed that nothing was torn in Huard's knee, which was injured in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks' 37-24 defeat to the Colts.

"These things you don't fix overnight. The defensive line (is) an area that we have to address after the season is over and is one of the high-priority items."
-- Head coach Mike Holmgren, on the root of Seatle's defensive problems, in the Seattle Times

    from the SEAHAWKS MESSAGE BOARD
"I'm not knocking (Brock) Huard, and I would love it if he turned out to be the guy to take us to the future. But I feel we need to decide by the end of the year, because if he isn't, we need to get ready to draft a QB."
