Here's yet another utterly gorgeous Final Fantasy XIII trailer from the boys and girls at Square Enix, whose art-drawing skills spawn worlds and people more beautiful than real life. Fact.
This is an extended trailer - so you may recognise certain scenes - with heaps of new footage, English-language speech and the western-specific Leona Lewis theme tune, titled My Hands, from her newest album Echo.

This is available on Xbox Live now too, if you want to watch it on your telly. It doesn't look like PSN has it yet though - maybe in tomorrow's update.
So... whiny teenagers, ridiculous dialogue, cheesy voices, generic, girly looking men and lots of CGI.
Yup, that's Final Fantasy alright. These trailers aren't putting my fears that this is going to be lame to rest. I hope to be proved wrong, but that trailer brought bile to my throat. The sickeningly sweet theme song didn't help either.
Jebus. I watched the first 1/8th of that clip and then stopped it. Awkward, amateurish dialogue and then topped off by an entirely too sweet sounding song...It looks pretty yet the more I hear and read about this game, the more it seems to stink.

Unlike a few of the above posters I thought the game looked brilliant and for once the voice actors didn't seem too bad. Everything will seem more awkward because a lot of the context of the story will have been lost when splicing together a trailer. As for those complaiing about whiny teenagers, haven't you played a FF before??? All except VII had most of leads in their teens. Then again nearly all JRPGs have teenagers as lead characters. All about self discovery and what not. As for the music I'm not a fan and it seemed like a youtube video with someone just sticking the music track over the top ignoring what was actually happening. Still looking forward to March though!

Sure, I have but not since FF VII which is also considered one of, if not the, greatest of the FF games. Seems I have matured over the years and outgrown this teeny-bop crap. SquareEnix are going to have to do better than this. A lot better. Or there needs to be one hell of an ace up their sleeve with "FF XIII", which I personally despair of being the case in light of what I've read from other gaming sites recently.
Yes, sadly I have played all the FF games bar the online one. It's been a drastic decline since 7 I think- with characters you just want to punch in the face. I dunno why I keep playing them- maybe it's because I really like RPG's and WANT to enjoy them.
I'll bring a bucket next time I try and watch another video though.
Personally I think the Final Fantasy series is one of the most overrated series of all time, out of the ones I've played I've only botherd to finish one of them (12 for the record), there are far better series out there like Valkyrie Profile.
Also I recently got 7 and I can't see what the fuss is about, if it doesn't pick up by the five hour mark I'll be ditching this too. (Also Cloud really grinds on my nerves, even more than Shinn)
I thought you lot would prefer VII (my favourite too) but X is a close second in my books. It's even when they started voice acting in the series, although I did want to kill Tidus by the end of it (but the game did it for me - I'll ignore the shambolic X-2, he's dead / not real dammit!). I don't know I suppose you have to learn to put up with the teen stuff when you play JRPGs, but because of the lack of them on PS3 most of the RPGs I've been playing are western ones. The games where men are men and women are women and elves are... well pointy eared men and women. All guns, swords and sex in the west. Just swords and puberty in the east. Got to reserve judgement until you play it though because there are a lot of anti-FF people on the net. Negative comments are not gonna stop me from playing it and as long as it doesn't end up like VIII (the magic system not the actual story) or X-2 (pretty much the whole damn thing) I won't care.

"FF 7" (VII) is my preferred FF. Conversely no amount of wishful fan thinking will convince me that "FF XIII" is deserving of my money fresh out the door. It's got "stinker" all over it. Should I be proven wrong that would be a pleasant surprise...Then again, reviews contain a good amount of subjective personal taste and after playing a god among RPGs like "Dragon Age: Origins" I very much doubt SquareEnix have anything to trump it with. Give me "guns, swords and sex from the West" any day over "just swords and puberty in the East".

Indeed. All but didn't get Dragon Age: Origins. So glad that I did. Probably the best RPG I've played in the last few years. That's not because of the "sex" in it, but that sure didn't hurt my opinion of the game any!
Looked and sounded like an advert for the O.C or whatever these kids are watching today..Glee?
Still I'll join in the JRPG argument and say my favorite is FFVII with Dragonquest on the ps2 second for me...and maybe Front mission 3 on the ps1 3rd but I'm not sure that counts.
I'm kind of new to CVG and just wanted to ask why this game is in Xbox 360?
With 10 kudos, you ain't that new. Wikipedia is your friend.

The Leona Lewis song is laughably incongruous with the trailer, as I expected; it just isn't a FF-esque song. Except for the first scene in the trailer though, the voice acting didn't seem too bad. Gotta applaud SE for actually redoing the lip-syncing - it makes such a difference. I thought the montage of action sequences towards the end was great. Also, did anyone else think the Australian chick with the black hair sounded exactly like Chloe from Uncharted 2? Same VA?
Despite all the controversy about it being more linear than previous FF's (which I am admittedly somewhat apprehensive about), I am going to reserve my judgement until I play it... on the day it comes out. I don't expect it to trump VII by any means, but hopefully the storyline will be a little more involving than XII.
I'm not feeling the Leona track either, tbh. I'd much rather play the game with the original Japanese soundtrack.
I think Kimi ga Irukara is just amazing.
Ditto! I've always thought this. I suppose the option of having the original Japanese voices was off the cards as soon as they decided to reanimate the lip-syncing. Still, I'd rather have the English voices than the Japanese voices with dubtitling a la Valkyria Chronicles. While it may not bother others, I can speak Japanese, so listening what they say while reading subtitles that aren't direct translations drives me nuts.
