Microsoft patents EMG muscle sensors

Air Guitar Hero has arrived
Microsoft's research and development department is looking into a user interface system that uses EMG muscle sensors.

According to Engadget (and the YouTube video below) Microsoft is connecting EMG sensors to arm muscles and then detecting finger gestures based on the muscle movement.

How far this technology could go is anyone's guess but it's come a long way from the Power Glove and Vision camera days.

Check out the video below and then suggest what games you think it might work best with. Or will the technology be good enough to invent new types of game altogether?

Wanking hero?

(Oh must it always boil down to this? My mind is wholly tawdry)

If they develop this into a properly working piece of technology it could be pretty damn cool, and not just for games. I'm just a bit sceptical though because some of the examples didn't look convincingly real, and I can also imagine the amount of problems they'd cause.

I mean people have a natural tendency to tense their hands and fingers, so what if you are running and change the song without meaning to? Or youre just gripping bags in your hand anyway and accidentally open your car's doors without even realizing?

Or you could just use voice control - unless you're carrying another child in your jaw...
