Word on a Mirror's Edge sequel has appeared online via a developer's CV, which has since been updated to remove any mention of the game(obviously).
According to a lighting artist at EA's DICE studio, spotted by Joystiq, the CV listed Battlefield 3 and Mirror's Edge 2 as projects currently being worked on. Whoops.

Assets from the titles have also been removed. As has the lighting artist in question. Probably. The artist's site now says "2009 - present : Lighting at EA DICE (Move along, nothing to see here...)"
We'll drop EA a line to see what they've got to say.
EA confirms ‘small team’ working on Mirror’s Edge 2 By Wesley Yin-Poole - 12/06/2009 - 11:07am GMT
--- ‘You will see another Mirror’s Edge for sure’ says exec.
A ‘small team’ is working on Mirror’s Edge 2, EA has confirmed.
Speaking to VideoGamer.com at E3, the outspoken Patrick Soderlund, who as senior vice president at EA Games Europe oversees all European game development, said he was “excited” by what developer DICE, where he is based, will do with the game.... ---
I'd be interested to see where the sequel goes. I'd much prefer less combat (or improved combat, at least) in favour of pursuit - both chase and chased - and more complex puzzle-style areas, like where you made your way up that building from which you shoot the truck.
Loved the first game but the cut scenes were awfully done. Yeah, that bit where you had to make your way up the building was fantastic but bloody frustrating if you miss timed your jumps near the top.
I fancy Mirror's Edge but I read everywhere that it's no good. But here people are saying it's decent... what gives, is it worth getting?
Horses for courses, really. The gun combat is where it does fall down, but ignoring that and it's a really fun and challenging game. The free running aspect of it gives you puzzles the like of you don't get in other games, really.
There's not a lot of replay value except for the speed run bits (which admittedly are quite fun on certain levels). I'd say if you're not sure, then it's definitely a good game to rent.

Cheers Altitude. I'll maybe just pick it up 2nd hand on eBay, it's probably another fiver job. So many other good games coming out though and I'm already in the middle of Mass Effect and MW2.
great timing. i just got the platinum for the first one. my biggest gaming achievement. that includes doing gears 1 on insane alone.
I found Gears 1 was easier alone on insane. Especially the bits where you split up and can't be revived. When the other person is AI, it means they never die on their path so you only have to worry about yourself.

Valve had a special Steam offer for the PC version (without SecuROM) for 3.74 Euros earlier this week. I got in on it and I look forward to playing the game (I could hardly say no to a price like that even if it is tied to Steam and doesn't contain SecuROM which is what put me off buying it when it was released). For those who missed that deal, renting it may not be a bad idea at all (unless you can find a cheap second hand console copy of the game - the PC version will likely be tied to a Steam account so second hand PC versions are worthless unless you can verify it hasn't been registered before you pay).
