The Dead Space on-rails shooter, Extraction, sold 9,000 copies in the US between launch on September 29 and the end of the NPD's monthly reporting period on October 3. And that's not very good.
Why the slow start? EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich told Edge-Online that the title's poor sell through would not come as a surprise to publisher EA.

"Electronic Arts didn't market Dead Space Extraction as much as it does with other titles. And the success or failure of a Wii title usually correlates directly to marketing spend. If Electronic Arts spent little on marketing, I am sure the sell through was no surprise to them. So I do not believe sell through was a disappointment to EA."
Can't say I've seen an Ad for this. If you don't advertise how the hell can you expect to sell the product?! I've been gaming for around 25 years and like to think I know what's coming out etc., but any newcomers to gaming, and that is largely what the Wii is capturing, wouldn't have much of a clue until they pop into Game. Then you've got the competition from House of the Dead, Res Evil etc. when it comes to light gun type games. It's a shame as I've no doubt it's a good game much like Madworld which I thought was the business, but again Madworld didn't sell due to a lack of getting it out to the public. Very disappointing as I can't see a way forward for these more 'mature' games on Nintendo platforms.

How the hell do these people get paid to state the oblivious? You could take that sentence and drop the Wii bit and use that for just about any product.
Maybe cse its on the Wii. Ye i knw PS3 and 360 have the proper Dead Space but companys should take notice in the fact older games aint workin on the Wii for obvious reasons, another prime example was MadWorld.
You can say all ye want Resi 4 sold well on Wii but that was before many hardcore gamers traded there Wii with the lack of being noticed.
Simple answer, REAL hardcore Wii owners are few and far between now and i seriously doubt most Wii owners will be buying there 12 year old sons and daughters Dead Space over Resort and Mario Bros and that would still be the case if EA DID market it.
Its a shame really because its a really good game and I only found it by searching hard through a list of titles it wasn't even on the newly released shelf. EA kinda shot themselves in the foot because im really surprised by how much I enjoyed this title much better than the Resident Evil titles and I've played Darkside Chronicles which is good but doesnt build the tension up nearly as much as Dead Space Extraction.
