Famitsu has given Sega's action-packed slap-'em-up a perfect 40/40 score. Yeah, we were pretty surprised, too.
This makes it the first Xbox 360 game to get a perfect score from the respected Japanese mag, who's only ever rated 11 other titles top marks, including Dragon Quest IX and Monster Hunter Tri this year, according to Kotaku.

The game is developed by Platinum Games, and produced by Yusuke Hashimoto, who also did the first Devil May Cry game on PS2 - and you can see the resemblances there. It looks cool, but is it that good?
We'll tell you when we get our hands on the final game, although it's not due out here until early next year. Bummer.
Having played the demo for both i have to say the 360 version looks better. but not by much. they're pretty much identical.
Also Didn't Last Remanat get a perfect score from famitsu. Seeing as the PS3 version doesn't look like its ever going to see the light of day that'd make it a 360 game now.

Nope. It got a high score, but not top marks all round.
Slightly off topic, but I've always liked Famitsu as a review system. The fact is, to get a very good score, you have to convince FOUR reviewers.
EGM in the states used to be similar (probably still is), but even our own UK mags, like Crash and ZZap (in the earlier days) used to get 3 reviewers opinions and average them to get the overall score.
Wish someone would bring that model back here. It used to be that you'd learn which reviewers has most similar tastes to yourself and could often consider their score more important than the overall. But to get an award, you'd have to get a good score from all the reviewers. Crash's system of having 1 main reviewer, and 2 "criticism" boxes with smaller reviews was spot on.
@Eltonbird: IGN sometimes do a review with a section at the bottom with another reviewers opinion in, but then again IGN is a terrible place, personally.

Those were the days..
Those definitely were the days. I still have a load of those mags in the loft.
Not sure about the score, but I have only seen vids of this. Looked like a standard Devil May Cry Clone. Goes to show, you can't judge a game from just footage, maybe.
i thought it was an ok game, but if you look at the list of perfect 40 games from Famitsu magazine, I don't really belive it deserves its place. I think the four reviewers were a bit too taken in by the lady on the cover!
