Box art special: Lampard and Walcott join Rooney

FIFA 10 hails the biggest players of the moment
EA has unveiled the "UK cover athletes", or footballers as we like to call them, for FIFA 10. Chelsea's Frank Lampard and Arsenal's Theo Walcott will join Man U man Wayne Rooney. The game ships on October 2 for almost every platform known to man.

"FIFA is definitely the best football game on the market, and I am delighted to be featured on the cover again," said Rooooooney. "I play the game regularly online and against a lot of the lads at the club and I'm looking forward to the 360 degree control as it will make FIFA even more realistic than any other football game out there."

If you're a fan of boxart, look below for a massive mid-week treat.

I'm sure that ugly t**t rooney spouted that PR crap!!

Walcott will no doubt have rubbish stats with him being so young so I don't think he was the right choice either. Not sure who else I would have put on though.

LMAO, Lampards eyes look really weird there. Highly unflattering. He looks about 80 years old. I suppose FIFA will be the best footy game again. 2 previews from OPM say that it's currently EA 1, Konami 0, so we'll see. Release the demos early, that's all I say.

@ bmaindj

Gerrard could clearly have gone on instead of Walcott

Btw does anyone know who is going to be on the Irish cover?
El-Nino on 5 Aug '09
I guess they picked walcott because he's an emerging talent, plays for a great club & he has different skin colour to the others.

GUILDFORD, UK. – August 5th, 2009 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today unveiled the UK cover athletes for EA SPORTS™ FIFA 10. Chelsea FC midfielder Frank Lampard and bottomnal’s rising star, Theo Walcott, join Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney as the faces of FIFA 10 in the UK. FIFA 10 will be available from October 2nd on PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360®™ video game and entertainment system, Wii™ home video game system, PC, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo DS™, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and mobile.

FIFA 10 marks the fifth year the 23-year-old Rooney has been featured on the UK pack cover while Walcott makes his debut. Lampard previously featured on the UK cover for 2006 FIFA World Cup.

“FIFA is definitely the best football game on the market, and I am delighted to be featured on the cover again,” said Manchester United and England striker, Wayne Rooney. “I play the game regularly online and against a lot of the lads at the club and I’m looking forward to the 360 degree control as it will make FIFA even more realistic than any other football game out there.”

“I’m really pleased to be part of the EA SPORTS FIFA franchise. Being on the cover of this great football video game with such a long history is really special for me”, said Lampard. “

"To join the likes of Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard on the cover of FIFA is a huge honour for me" said Theo Walcott. "FIFA is the game of choice in the bottomnal dressing room so I'll have to keep on top of my game to make sure I’m the best FIFA 10 player at the club."

“We’re delighted to welcome both Frank and Theo to the EA SPORTS FIFA franchise for the 2009-2010 season,” said Trevor Uzice – Marketing Manager for FIFA 10. “Along with Wayne, they represent the very best of English football talent and we’re proud to have them join us for FIFA 10”.

FIFA 10 will deliver a new standard for authenticity with gameplay refinements and innovations that will make it the most complete and intelligent simulation of football to date. On the pitch, critical gameplay fundamentals have been enhanced to ensure that FIFA 10 mirrors real-world football, providing more sophisticated ball control, and physical interaction between players. The first-ever true 360° dribbling system gives players finer control of the ball, enabling them to find spaces between defenders that previously were not possible. FIFA 10 also features a deeper iteration of the ever-popular Manager Mode with more than 50 major improvements.

FIFA 10 will be available in stores worldwide from October 2nd 2009. It is developed under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C., FIFA 10 is localized into 17 languages and sold in 37 countries–-it is the most popular EA SPORTS franchise globally. FIFA 10 has not been rated yet.

Has there been a mix up with the boxart????

This looks like it should be fot the game "I have the biggest object shoved up my butt", which of course Activision are producing.

EA... instead of telling us what the box is going too look like.... Why don't you tell us if the BAP online mode has been improved or will the game be ruined by the boring crap and talentless players who will no doubt be playing as REAL MADRID in FIFA 2010 instead of MAN UTD in 2009.

Can EA tell us if the "so called" multiplayer match-up rating system that was in FIFA 2009 that is supposed to match you up with players of a similar skill? (which is TOTAL B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T by the way) has been replaced or improved.

EA until you prove these things I will view every press relese with a very wary eye.

*****3 players from the Top 3 clubs in the english prem *****

Well no, cos these days Liverpool are ahead of bottomnal. But it does explain Walcott's inclusion as he is the only English player at bottomnal (thats if they were looking to have all english players on the cover).
