The next Hitman game will be released in late 2010, and will share story points with the upcoming film sequel by Twentieth Century Fox.
That's according to Variety, which claims that the fifth Hitman game will have deadly baldy Agent 47 "at a low point" and he must build himself back up psychologically and physically to reclaim his mantle as the world's most feared assassin.
Screenwriter Kyle Ward is back on script duties, as well as penning the Kane and Lynch and Uncharted films.

Hmmm... down on his luck, building himself up... Where have we heard this premise before? (cough, Splinter Cell Conviction, Max Payne 3, etc.). As long as Agent 47 isn't fat and wearing a wife beater...
Is this the first time a movie has been released alongside a game, rather than the other way round? I thought Hitman the movie was alright, it was perfectly watchable and Agent 47 was spot on. At least it's not directed by Uwe Boll and doesn't star The Rock... I mean... Dwayne Johnson.
i thought the all out action version of hitman in the film was wrong, i mean he just wakled into a room had a converstaion then picked up machine guns and blasted everyone and he used grenades aswell, not the silent controlled assasin i imagined him to be, i thought the hitman in no country for old men was more the angle that 47 should have been.
totaly cold, well thought out and a sociopath.
but i am well excited about the game, bloodmoney was amazing, i'd like to see more accidents and other new thing in this one.
oh and grasshopper i hate MGS but love hitman so i guess it is just personal preferance.
lol mgs4 was an average game it was not as good as mgs3 which i really enjoyed playing at my mates, mgs4 snake doesnt even look cool he looks like a grandad at an ann summers party rofl :L now agent 47 is the bees knees you cant beat the suit lol
wow! people saying the hitman games are average. have you even touched blood money? sure contracts had is fair share of problems but with blood money it felt pretty much perfect; i mean feeding someone to a shark at some insane rave, how awesome is that? controls were tight as hell svd but it seems we might have a case of the "it doesnt handle like cod so it sucks" argument here. and mgs4 is amazing, dont know how the word average fits in there. I would like to know what games are great for you guys. (dont know why this was mentioned though)
anyways hitman game is gonna be sick but the movie is goin to be pants again. if you want to at least try then at least get an actor who resembles 47's age and for gods sake can you at least try to pull off the accent? oh and ya wtf was with that scene where they pull swords out of there asses?
i have the hitmans on pc and the controls were fine for me, svd_grasshopper did you play bloodmoney that was exeptional rather than average, and the first one had many unique ( now commonly used ) features.
i like how big the maps are and how you have to plan your asasinations to not get caught, rather than MGS small area screens and how if you got caught you just had to kill people for a while then all is forgotten.
Lets hope they get the physics right this time at least, I have had every game since the original and none of them have any weight to them, I feel like im running on clouds shooting out killer balls of cotton at people.

Bingo. "Hitman: Bloodmoney" was/is, in my opinion a phenomenal assassin game - especially once you get past the mandatory intro level. A new "Hitman" game? I'm ready to rub my hands in glee!

Yeah very true. They need to update the ragdoll physics they are using because it does look ridiculous compared to say the euphoria engine in GTA4.
I am trying not to be optimistic here because I have heard very good things about the Hitman series but there is a little niggling point about it being linked to a movie which sort of scares me in a way.
The thing which worries me will be whether the game will turn out rubbish because of it. I only hope it will not.

as long as it game first then film it should be ok, not a game based on the film.
and aslong as they optimise it properly for the pc they could easily us the euphoria engine and not have such high spec requirements as GTA4, just aslong as it can cope with the massive croud scenes like in bloodmoney.
and maybe they should think about being able to pick up bodies and put them on your sholder, that would make some aspect of the game alot easier, but of course still have the dragging, that was fun.
Hitman was never about handling perfectly i'm afraid, you've gotta look past that. The games are about the wealth of ideas and strategies you can explore in eliminating a target.
Did Snake ever dress up like a clown and go on a killing spree in a small surburban neighbourhood with a kitchen knife? My 47 did. I am especially fond of the knife double-back-stab animation where he covers the mouth and slides the knife in..... good times.
Guys, this isn't true. An IO employee is active on Hitman Forum, and he's shot down this rumour. Don't believe me? Check out the post below:
I honestly don't know what Kyle is doing with the script at the moment and so I can't comment to that. I can tell you that there is no way we will be basing a storyline for a new Hitman game on the story in a licensed movie. That's just not how we work so you shouldn't be concerned about that. Obviously getting another film out is great news for us since it broadens the awareness of the Hitman brand, and it seems like it's a pretty good business model for Fox if they rake in $100 million on a movie costing $30 million to produce.
So there. His name's Nick, BTW. I think he's the Community Manager.
Because i wrote much more than I had planned on, this is the gist of what i wrote:
blood money was too linear, it left no room to mess around once you figured out how to get silent assassin, and the gameplay hasn't really changed in terms of ai and how simple the level layout is; the other games had more memorable moments, like the story of hitman 2 and contracts, and things from contracts that were ridiculously twisted and chilling.
hitman 5 will either be like blood money and basically take the same game and just throw in a few perks like melee combat, weapon upgrades, and a couple items with multiple ways of usage, or hitman 5 will be an overhaul of the game, while incorporating the high points of the previous titles.
The idea of re-building reminds me a little too much of assassin's creed. I think most gamers are looking for more freeform games. like, choosing missions, having to rely on yourself instead of the agency (since it doesn't exist anymore) stuff like that. Hitman 5 has the potential of being either really good or just a repeat of the games with a few perks.
Blood Money had new features, but not enough. I enjoyed the idea of hiding weapons behind your back, putting bodies in dumpsters, finding ways to make accidents, melee combat, throwing knives, upgrading, and the way the camera was independent of 47's movement. but the core gameplay didn't change.
Guards still remain too predictable, innocents are forgetful (the shock of finding a dead person lasts maybe 5-10 minutes before everything goes back to normal) and interactions with the environment are still few.
Also, blood money was too linear. Once you figured out the convenient chandelier hanging over the target's head or they're frequent visits to a balcony, the game is predictable.
contracts was amazing. traditions of the trade was so much fun, and i agree, some of the things in those levels were very disturbing.
hitman 2 was amazing, since it didn't have very specific ways of getting silent assassin, just general requirements. and it had a storyline that was just wonderful.
blood money had good features, but it was too easy to go back and play contracts and see how it was just like playing contracts, minus a few minor perks. it also was cool to actually see bullet holes and be able to use different tools to kill, but the game really didn't allow killing. the other games made silent assassin a goal, above and beyond a normal performance. blood money made it a necessity, especially on professional. silent assassin was too easy, once figured out.
Currently, I dislike the rating system. It has forced the games to restrict the levels in order to allow the ability to get silent assassin. and using hostages was hardly ever practical, save one time where taking a hostage was necessary. notoriety made it impractical to ever use anything that wasn't either silenced or non-lethal.
There isn't much potential, if speaking of blood money, for a new good game. my fear is that the brilliant simplicity of the series is nearing its end. like splinter cell is changing its core idea of being a hi-tech super-agent to a betrayed lost soul with super-human skills, i think hitman is going to need to really change its core principal while still retaining its character (not as in 47, but in terms of its uniqueness, how formal 47 is, but still casual and professional).
I may be a pessimist, but I don't have high hopes for hitman 5.
Also, though i may be critical, blood money was still really fun to play.
sorry for writing so much. if you made it this far, i bow to you.
1 veriation in mission layouts i for one like to plan my hits but mostly it's just watch and find the flaws in the AI to get the target.
2 AI must be great i want to be challenged with as many inventive ways to kill my target.NOT just set pieces the switching the revolver and getting someone else to kill the target was brilliant.
3 Story has to be intresting the one with 47 bleeding to death having flash backs of hits was the best i.e. no story just short story hits worked great.
4 just hurry and finish it but dont release untill its polished ok
