Catch George and Brad and their heist hi-jinks in Ocean’s Thirteen.  Cynics who swore off Clooney and co. after the lackluster Ocean’s Twelve, know this: George, director Steven Soderbergh and the entire cast know they owe you. Admitting that Twelve was a disaster, in that it was far too confusing and complicated, Clooney has said, "Thirteen happened because we felt like we could do it better than Twelve. We didn't want to go out getting socked in the chin on one.” Reckon it’s still a con job? Then opt for the much anticipated television series turned live action flick Transformers, or the second installment of the Fantastic Four franchise Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Yup, it’s a busy month at the box office when these much anticipated blockbusters premiere at a screen near you.

Read Falling Man by Don DeLillo. Its title inspired by the famous harrowing image of a man falling from the North Tower on 9/11, the novel has been hailed as one of the best among post-9/11 novels. Elsewhere, Eric Van Lustbader’s The Bourne Betrayal – his sophomore effort since taking over from the late Robert Ludlum’s spy saga – hits stores. If the glowing reviews for his first book, The Bourne Legacy is anything to go by, Jason Bourne and his amnesiac adventures may have a long way to go yet.

Contemplate the Apple iPhone (especially if its rumored June U.S. release date pans out) and have your life ruled by another tech gadget, albeit one with pretty gee-whiz gadgetry. To wit: the iPhone features a much-hyped Multi-Touch touch-screen interface, high-resolution (160ppi) screen, 2meg camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, web browser, email, maps, searching... and, of course, Apple’s highly-rated iTunes music player. All that, and it weighs in only at 4.8 ounces, and measures just 11.6mm thick. We wish we had genes like that.

Mourn the fact that pop tart Christina Aguilera is giving Jakarta a miss but bringing her Back to Basics Tour to Singapore at the end of this month. Powerhouse vocals aside, the concert promises to be quite the visual extravaganza, especially with Roberto Cavalli onboard as the tour’s exclusive costume designer. There’s time yet to plan a short trip to the city-state to catch Christina in concert on 30 June, but if you miss the opportunity, fret not. Aguilera wings it to Hong Kong to perform at the Asia World Arena on 3 July. Show this city some love. The annual Jakarta Fair is underway and goes on till 15 July. So while it won’t boast the same kind of show-stopping theatrics as Christina’s concert, it will serve up plenty  of good, wholesome family fun with food, arts and handicrafts, cultural, music and dance performances.
