It's one of the first time an evaluation campaign manage to gather important data provider for research purposes. All the data we use are from professionals, that means ImagEVAL proposes very challenging images

For this first edition, copyright problems were naturally a difficulty to resolve. Agreements between the data providers and the steering committee allowed participants to use a part of the database for research purposes. Nevertheless, it is clear that this problem is the most important and delicate constraint for all shared task campaigns involving real data

Already, ImagEVAL has stimulated a fruitful discussion between evaluation campaigns organizers and data providers. Rights use is important for the quality of the databases but also for the dissemination of the results to the large community of potential end-users.

We are very confident that future editions of ImagEVAL will propose more and more "opened" databases
