A former SHIELD scientist, Doctor Robert Bruce Banner founded
Banner Labs after leaving his thankless government job and deciding to go into business
for himself. To avoid unnecessary legal entanglements in the United States, Dr. Banner established Banner Labs in the African nation of Wakanda. The sprawling Banner Labs campus is home to SHAFT's research facility, chemical synthesizing plant, and a medical complex that specializes in meeting the needs of mutants, metahumans, cyborgs, extraterrestrials, gods, and monsters. This unique hospital is run by Doctor Donald Blake, and is staffed by some of the finest medical specialists in the world. Dr. Druid, Wakandan ruler Dr. T'Challa, and Drs. Henry and Janet Pym are just a few of the renowned scientists who split their time between the research facility and the medical center. |

TAKE THE "S.H.A.F.T. IN AFRICA" TOUR
Wakanda was chosen as the home of Banner Labs because King T'Challa, a.k.a. the Black Panther, is a charter member of SHAFT. But there are other perks as well.

For one, Wakanda is the only remaining African country with a thriving dinosaur population. This is certainly a boon for Wakandan tourism, allowing vacationers to experience a bit of our planet's prehistoric past without having to travel all the way to the Antarctic's secluded Savage Land. Having been replaced at the National Security Agency by mutant shapeshifter Mystique, Val was left to consider other career options, and finally settled upon leading the adventurous on extended hikes through the Wakandan wilderness. While some people would consider "tour guide" to be an odd choice for a woman with Dr. Cooper's qualifications and experience, Val enjoys the luxury of spending time in the great outdoors and the challenge of using her combat skills to prevent hikers from getting devoured by the occasional T-Rex.
"If I never have to wear a suit, work in an office, and sit at a desk again," explains Val, "I will have fulfilled one of my life's ambitions." Click Here for more pictures from the Wakanda Tour.
Val is also available for tours of the interior of Banner Labs, but these require more advance notice, as she needs extra time to procure the necessary firepower for ensuring the safety of tourists.
