150 new SDSL exchanges announced

Posted: Friday 2nd July 2004 by Sam
BT Wholesale have today announced the next 150 exchanges to be enabled for their SDSL products.

SDSL is targetted at small businesses who need to be able to send data just as fast as they can receive it. This can be very useful for sending very large emails, voice over IP, and video conferencing.

This news has been expected for some time, and it is good to see that the exchanges are spread quite widely and not just confined to London.

The full list is available in CSV format, here.

Many people still do not know that BT Wholesale are in fact running an SDSL pre-registration scheme, although trigger levels are not yet being set for exchanges. Saddly only one ISP to our knowledge (Eclipse Internet) has been collecting SDSL registrations so far. The 5,000-odd registrations they have gathered to date will have had certainly influenced BT's decision as to where to roll out.

I will be posting maps and updating the data on the site tomorrow to reflect the new SDSL exchanges being commissioned.
