BT cuts IPStream regrade prices

Posted: Friday 11th June 2004 by Sam
Following the migration price cuts that came into effect on the 1st May, BT have now reduced the pricing for regrades between IPStream products. the wholesale charge has been reduced from £35 to £11. The original pricing notification to Ofcom can be found here.

This, coupled with last months announcement, means that a DataStream user with one ISP can now migrate to a new ISP with an IPStream package and regrade at the same time, all for £11 (wholesale cost, which excludes ISP charges and VAT).

Of course all of this becomes a moot point as more and more ISP's begin to adopt the new capacity based charging model from BT. As Eclipse revealed last month, their new FLEX services will use the fastest connection available, and then downgrade it to the chosen speed at their end. This method allows for seamless (and free!) regrades between speeds.
