BT Wholesale slash ADSL migration charges

Posted: Wednesday 28th April 2004 by Sam
The pre-registration scheme may have drawn its last breath, but the news just keeps on coming.

BT have today announced the reduction in cost of IPStream ADSL (the standard type of connection) migrations from £35 +VAT to £11 +VAT. Whilst this is a wholesale price, most ISP's will pass on this price saving to end-users, effectively allowing them to change between service providers far cheaper than ever before. The downtime involved with migrations has also been reduced to approximately 30 minutes, in one 24 hour period. This price reduction will take effect May 1st 2004.

The original BT press release can be found here.

Additional improvements to BT Wholesale's other migration systems have also been made, allowing ISP's to move users on IPStream over to DataStream far easier than before. This type of migration, which is significantly more complex than simple ISP-to-ISP migrations, has had its wholesale cost per end user reduced from £50 +VAT to £11 +VAT. This should make the process of moving between a basic IPStream product to a more flexible DataStream product both cheaper and quicker. This change will also take effect on May 1st.
