Milton Keynes trial gets off to a flying start

Posted: Monday 7th June 2004 by Sam
BT's extended reach trial in Milton Keynes has seen its first adopters last week, and the response so far seems to be very positive.

All but a couple of the postings on the Milton Keynes Broadband Action Group website are reporting successful installations. All the trialists seem to be experiencing good speeds. One person has reported a very good connection at 65.5dB line loss (which would meant his line was classified as red).

Perhaps the most interesting is the post at the very top of the page though. It seems that BT Yahoo! are offering free everything for trialists - that includes the monthly fee, activation, hardware and not even a minimum contract duration. Assuming that this information is accurate, it seems that BT Yahoo! are offering trialists an extremely good deal. It should be noted that they and all the other ISP's are being charged the standard fees by BT Wholesale for trial connections.

For those of you that think you may have missed the boat, there are still places available on the trial. Let's hope that some of the remaining places can be given to those ISDN users which are currently not eligible to participate.
