NTL to invest €100 million in its Irish network

Posted: Thursday 3rd June 2004 by Sam
NTL have today announced plans to upgrade their cable network in Ireland by the end of 2006. The entire process is estimated to cost €100 million (approx £66.6 million at current rates).

The plans involve delivering broadband over their cable network to 100,000 homes by the end of this year, and then the remainder of their network by the end of 2006.

As of August, customers in Ireland will be able to sign up to the following services:

SpeedPrice
300Kbps€25 (£16.64)
750Kbps€35 (£24.30)
1.5Mbps€50 (£33.28)

New signups will apparently also receive free installation and three months worth of service for free.

The quoted speeds and the date also provide us with a reasonable guess as to when the rest of the UK will see the speed boost announced some time ago.
