BT slips 3 more SDSL exchanges into the mix

Posted: Sunday 16th May 2004 by Sam
BT have recently installed SDSL services in a further three exchanges in the UK, bringing the national total to 154 SDSL exchanges.

The three exchanges are Bilston, West Bromwich and Willenhall. All three are located in close proximity in the central midlands. A map detailing their locations can be seen here.

What makes Willenhall and Bilston particularly interesting is that they were both ADSL enabled under the preregistration scheme. Willenhall was ADSL enabled as recently as December 2003.

Rumours about BT's next move with SDSL have been circulating in abundance recently, following word that BT was to enable a further 150 exchanges for SDSL. One very popular rumour at the moment is that Cardiff, Swansea and Bridgend are already on this SDSL list. ISP's had until last Friday to submit lists of the exchanges they would like to have seen SDSL enabled by BT Wholesale. It is unclear as to when we can expect more news regarding the matter.
