Portuguese Gastronomy...

[Lusa] Comezaínas--recipes and more[New]
(one of the best collections of recipes--and more--I've come across; contains lists of recipes with detailed instructions, as well as dietic advice, related links, and lists of eating establishments throughout Portugal and Madeira; where available, the email addresses and phone numbers of the establishments are given; finally, there are the features such as recipes of the week and tricks and techniques of the cooks; in Portuguese)

[Ana Taveira] Ana Taveira's Receitas Tradicionais dos Açores
(easily the definitive page on Azorean food: contains recipes of many traditional dishes as well as lists of bread, wines, cheese, fish, and desserts; a great bonus in these pages is a complete list of fish eaten in the Açores and in Portugal with their names in English and in Portuguese--how many times have you tried to tell people what the name of that fish in English was?...; the text is also available in English; another Pierre de Sousa Lima production)

[Lusa] Gastronomia de Matosinhos
(actually part of a series of pages about the city of Matosinhos, this page offers recipes for local specialties such as caldeirada de peixe, arroz de marisco, and sardinhas assadas no forno com sal; in Portuguese)

[Lusa] Portuguese Times' Collection of Recipes
(this is the main page for this newspaper from New Bedford, Massachussetts, and it contains links to the current edition, as well as to many previous ones--each edition has a number of recipes in it so follow the links to Culinaria; in Portuguese)

[Lusa] Casa Portuguesa's Culinária[New]
(a nice collection of Portuguese recipes in Portuguese on this site dedicated to the Portuguese community in Holand; has a recipe-of-the-week and an index broken into meat, fish, soup, sweets, and others)

[Lusa] Moura's Recipes for Local Dishes
(Moura is a city in Alentejo; its main Web page has a link to a page on local gastronomy where you can find recipes for caldo de queijo, manjar, and ensopado de borrego, among others)

[Lusa] Cristina Videira Lopes' Portuguese Restaurants Around The World
(an amazing list of Portuguese restaurants around the world; Crista has been assiduously collecting information on these restaurants for a few years and it shows; the list is broken out by countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Macau, USA, etc.)

[Lusa] Restaurante Faz-Frio
(it's not often that a restaurant has a home page so this one is quite welcome; it is located in the Bairro Alto area of Lisbon; the page has the menu and, although it was last updated in 1995, we can assume that it's pretty much the same today even though the prices have probably changed; every other dish is bacalhau...; the text is in English and some pictures are included)

[Lusa] World Guide to Vegetarianism -- Portugal
(lists restaurants and other eating establishments that focus on vegetarian food; contains listings for the Algarve and Lisbon only)

Hey! Have any suggestions for additions for my pages on Portugal? Send email to ideamen@well.com. Also, remember that I have a real job and, on occasion, they actually give me work to do--in short, I am happy to add your links but it may take me a couple of days.
