Schools
for Peace
.Through
the Schools for Peace Program, Kids Can Free the Children members
are raising funds to build schools in post-conflict areas- regions
where schools are desperately needed. Unfortunately, during times
of war, schools are often the first community buildings to be targeted
and destroyed, and may take communities years or even decades to
rebuild. KCFTC provides the means for communities to build schools,
hire teachers, and obtain the supplies necessary to enable children
to receive an education. Through this project, youth are connected
in the common goals of conflict resolution, cross-cultural exchange,
and the development of a greater understanding among cultures and
peoples. This, in turn, will help to create a new generation of
youth who are aware of their responsibility as global citizens to
help reduce conflict and world suffering.
One of the goals
of the Youth Ambassadors for Peace Project is to build 75 School
for Peace over the next five years in war-torn regions. Funding
for Schools for Peace comes largely from youth-driven and youth-run
fundraising activities. When youth raise funds to build schools,
they know that they are making a tangible, permanent difference
in the lives of their war-affected peers. For information on fundraising
