Web still swamped in aftermath of US terror attacks |
Web traffic remains double its usual levels following Tuesday's terrorist attacks.
Internet monitors Keynote say demand on internet news services remains high in the aftermath of the tragedies in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.
They say the immediate impact on web performance was unprecedented, far outweighing Code Red.
Many news services worldwide were jammed altogether on Tuesday by users worldwide logging on to sites at the same time.
Keynote say the dramatic decline in availability was akin to the disruption seen in last year's denial of service attacks on leading US websites.
July's Code Red internet worm threatened to bring massive disruption to the web, but despite predictions of chaos never gained the critical mass to significantly affect performance.
