Cowher: Catch the ball!
Kent Graham
Graham
Kent Graham, out of the lineup for two weeks, was 13-of-33 passing for 173 yards during Sunday's 15-0 win over the Bengals. But head coach Bill Cowher has already stated that Graham will remain his starting quarterback, and blames Pittsburgh's receivers for some of Sunday's problems on offense. "To me, if the guy gets two hands on it, he has to catch it," Cowher said in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Is that an inaccurate ball?"

Witman could be out for year

  Witman
Fullback Jon Witman apparently broke his right ankle Sunday against Cincinnati and could miss the rest of the season. The Steelers were awaiting further tests on the ankle Monday, but the preliminary diagnosis was that it was broken. Witman was hurt while blocking on a 5-yard run by Jerome Bettis early in the fourth quarter. Two players, one from each team, rolled across his leg as he was on the turf. "If he is out, it's really going to hurt us," Bettis said. "He's a major part of what we're doing. I'm going to miss him and the offense is going to miss him."

TJ: Porter deserves honors
Linebacker Joey Porter is Tom Jackson's Defensive Player of the Week after recording three sacks, including a safety, against the Bengals.

  • Donahoe: Steelers alive and kicking
    Monday, October 16
After a rough start, (The Steelers) have done a good job of establishing the running game with Jerome Bettis. Defensively, they have stopped giving up the big plays. If they can continue to do that, and they can get more consistent play from their QB's, they have a chance to put a pretty good season together. You have to give them credit for digging out of the hole to get to 3-3. Now they have to feel like they have a chance. They have Cleveland coming in next week, who they should be able to beat. There is alot of football to be played and after 6 games, they are right in the thick of it.

"We got ourselves into a big time hole, but we're getting ourselves out of it. We're kind of peeking our heads out of the hole."
