Library Calls for Fellowship Applications

Applications for the State Library of Victoria 2009-10 Fellowships are now open, and Australian scholars, artists, writers, historians and others are invited to apply.

The Fellowships are open to researchers across a range of disciplines, and offer financial support and the opportunity to engage closely with the Library's extensive collection. Fellows are provided with a study room in the Library and can access the Library outside normal opening hours.

The Fellowships on offer include:

  • Creative Fellowships – Up to eight Fellowships for Australians working in any creative field, including writers, independent scholars, musicians and artists. Grants range from $12,500 for Fellowships of three months to $50,000 for 12 months.
  • La Trobe Society Fellowship – One six-month Fellowship for a historian, with a grant of $25,000.
  • Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship – One six-month Fellowship for a visual artist, with a grant of up to $20,000.
  • Dr Joseph Brown AO Fellowship – One six-month Fellowship for study in art history, with a grant of up to $20,000.

Potential applicants are encouraged to attend an information evening at the Library's Village Roadshow Theatrette at 6pm on Monday 16 February.

Applications for the Creative, La Trobe Society and Dr Joseph Brown AO Fellowships close on 27 March, and the closing date for Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship submissions is 1 May.
