Focus on Fashion Photography

As part of this year's Motorola Melbourne Spring Fashion Week program, the State Library presents a conversation between fashion identity Robert Buckingham and design lecturer Dr Daniel Palmer on the history of Australian fashion photography.

The pair will discuss the early development of the artform and how homegrown practitioners have portrayed fashion over the decades. Projected images, from the advertising agency to the gallery, including photographers such as Helmut Newton and Ruth Hollick, will punctuate the discussion, which promises to be lively.
