Teenage Readers Get Connected

28 April 2006

The Library’s Centre for Youth Literature has developed Australia’s first website for teenagers to share their enjoyment of books and reading.

Launched last night, www.insideadog.com.au takes its name from a Groucho Marx quote - 'Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside a dog, it’s too dark to read.'

Insideadog features reader-written book reviews, moderated discussions, competitions, quizzes, give-aways, sample chapters of new books and news.

A regular writer-in-residence initiative will feature major Australian and overseas writers blogging on the site. The first of these is Nick Earls. Visitors to insideadog will be able to check his progress, make comments and ask him questions during May.

The project is supported by Copyright Agency Limited, the State Library of Victoria and the Clayton Utz Foundation.
