Internet Access Changes to Benefit Library Users

24 February 2006

Full internet access - including web-based email - will be available from all networked workstations throughout the Library from Monday 27 February 2006.

In addition, bookings will no longer be required for internet access. To ensure waiting time for users is minimised, a number of workstations in each reading room will have a 15-minute time limit during busy periods.

The changes are part of the Library's plans to further improve services to users.

A small number of workstations will remain as dedicated database access-only computers and will not be available for general internet use.

Other planned service improvements for 2006 include free wireless broadband access in the Redmond Barry Reading Room and Experimedia after Easter, and an upgrade to public-access workstations over the next six months.
