Victorian Poetry Slam Winners Announced

17 November 2009

Ferntree Gully's Ezra Bix has won the 2009 Poetry Slam Victorian state final, held at the State Library on 12 November.

Ezra, who was last year's Victorian runner-up, entertained the crowd with his energetic and captivating poetry about the First Home Owner Grant, population growth and climate change.

Anthea Eadan's steamy piece about poets in the bedroom won her second place.

Both Ezra and Anthea will go on to battle for the Australian title and a $5000 cash prize at the Sydney Opera House on 3 December.

Australian Poetry Slam contestants are given a microphone and only two minutes to present their poem to the audience. The competition is judged by audience members.
