Fellowship Applications Close 31 March
16 March 2006
Applications for the State Library of Victoria's Creative Fellowships program close on 31 March. To be considered for a 2006-07 Fellowship, intending applicants should ensure their application, in hard-copy format, reaches the Library no later than 5pm on this day.
The Creative Fellowships give scholars, writers and artists the means and the uninterrupted time to work closely with the rich resources of the State Library of Victoria. They demonstrate the Library's strong commitment to original scholarship, writing and creative endeavour. Three-month Fellowships provide a stipend of $12,500 and six-month Fellowships are worth $25,000.
Previous recipients have included artists, playwrights, radio producers, curators, historians, non-fiction writers, poets, novelists, composers and scholars, researching a wide range of subjects.
Recent work resulting from Fellowships include the 2005 publication A City Lost & Found: Whelan the Wrecker's Melbourne by 2003 Fellow Robyn Annear, and Brian Lipson's play Berggasse 19 - The Apartments of Sigmund Freud, part of the 2005 Melbourne Festival. Exhibitions include Lost & Found by artists John Wolseley and Peter Lyssiotis, and Picturing the Old People by multimedia artist Genevieve Grieves, both of which were on display at the Library in late 2005-early 2006.
More information about the Fellowships and a downloadable application form can be found on the Creative Fellowship pages.
