Inga Clendinnen Lecture Now Available Online

9 November 2007

An audio recording and transcript of Inga Clendinnen's 2007 National Biography Award Lecture, held at the Library on 7 November, is now available on the State Library of Victoria website.

Inga Clendinnen is a noted historian, academic and writer of several award-winning books, including her own autobiographical work, Tiger's Eye. Her topic for this prestigious annual lecture was 'Biography - The Impossible Art?'. In it she examined how possible, or impossible, it is to capture a life through text, and how strong our desire is for stories and to understand others.

The full audio of the lecture (around 45 minutes) can be heard online using our on-page audio player, or downloaded for listening on a mobile device such as an mp3 player. The audio is also part of the Library's SLV Podcast, and by subscribing to this podcast the audio file (along with others that are part of the podcast) will automatically be downloaded for you. A transcript of the lecture is also available to read online.
