New Appointments to Library Board of Victoria

4 October 2005

The Governor in Council has announced the appointment of the Hon. John Cain and Mr Stephen Kerr to the Library Board of Victoria.

‘We are delighted to welcome John and Stephen to the Board,’ said Sam Lipski, Board President. ‘The Library is very fortunate indeed to have the benefit of their tremendous experience, enthusiasm and expertise as we work together to create a library for the 21st century, meeting the needs of library users in a digital world.’

John Cain was Premier of Victoria between 1982 and 1990 and MLA for Bundoora from 1976 until 1992. Since leaving the Victorian Parliament he has contributed to public debate on many issues, particularly education.

Stephen Kerr, a long time supporter of the Library, was appointed Chair of the State Library of Victoria Foundation in 2002. He has a career in public relations spanning almost twenty years and is the founder and Chief Executive of the Public Relations Exchange.
