Books Save Lives!

3 February 2005

More than 30,000 books were sold at the State Library of Victoria last week raising almost $10,000 for the Red Cross tsunami relief appeal.

Twenty-eight public libraries across the state donated titles for the Giant Book Sale including adult non-fiction titles, children’s picture books, paperbacks and popular fiction.

In scenes reminiscent of the Boxing Day stocktake sales, thousands of people converged on the Library to find a treasure, get a bargain, or build a home library! A collaboration between the State Library of Victoria and Victorian public libraries, the Giant Book Sale also received support from Toll Priority, Pride Events, Coles-Myer and Coca Cola.
