New Website Ready For Release

1 June 2010

Expect to see a new Library website over the next two weeks.

The site is based on feedback from Library users and offers a whole range of new content and tools.

You’ll be able to:
• Search for items in our collections from any page on the website
• Chat live with a librarian - ask us a question and get an instant reply
• Explore our fascinating digitised collections (pictures, maps, rare books, music and more)
• Find out what's happening at the library – fast – in our new What’s on calendar
• Use research tools and guides
• Get fast access to key library information
• Plan your visit
• Read and talk back on our blogs
• Share what you find using familiar services like Facebook and delicious
• Browse image galleries, listen to talks, watch videos.

Key website sections make finding information easier:
• Visit
• Services
• Learn
• What's on
• Our collections.

Here’s a sneak preview of the new site.

What you can do on the new website

If you’re looking for something in our collections, you won’t have to find your way to our search service anymore. Just type your keyword into the search box at the top of any page, choose whether you want to search the collections or just the website, and click the button. Search will do the rest.

You can find out what's on at the Library by using Search, or just click on What's on. There you’ll see all our events and exhibitions, or you can choose what’s on a particular date or find something to suit your interests.

Listen to or watch writers such as Tim Flannery, Les Carlyon or Geraldine Brooks speak about their work, on our Audio & video page.

Ask a question of one of our librarians in our live chat service or send them an email.

The website will go live in early June. Stay tuned.
