Fellowship Applications Now Open

Applications are now open for the Library's research fellowships. Writers, scholars, composers, artists, historians and others are invited to apply for the opportunity to work closely with the Library's collection and research a publication or other work relevant to their discipline.

The Fellowships offer a stipend, a private study at the Library and access to the Library outside reading room hours.

The research opportunities comprise:

  • Creative Fellowships - for those in scholarly or creative disciplines (Australian residents only). Up to eight Fellowships, for three, six and 12 months, worth $12,500 to $50,000.
  • La Trobe Society Fellowship - for historians, scholars and writers (Australian residents only) for research into Charles Joseph La Trobe's 1839-54 colonial administration period. One six-month Fellowship, worth $25,000.
  • Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship - for Australian artists of repute to explore new thinking. One six-month Fellowship, worth up to $20,000.
  • Dr Joseph Brown AO Fellowship - for scholars (Australian residents only) for study in art history. One Fellowship of up to six months, worth up to $20,000.
  • Redmond Barry Fellowship - for scholars and writers for production of works of literature (Australian residents and internationals). One Fellowship for three to six months worth up to $20,000.

Applications for the Creative, La Trobe Society and Dr Joseph Brown AO Fellowships close at 5pm on Friday 28 March. The Redmond Barry Fellowship closes on Thursday 24 April. The Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship closes at 5pm on Thursday 1 May.
