Metro 2033 screens emrge from the dark

Fresh eyes on the underground shooter
Based on a best-selling SF novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2033 imagines the Russian capital thirty years after a nuclear holocaust. Here are some new screens to mull over.

We hopped over to Russia recently to take a look at the game. Here's a clip of what we found:

"Combat naturally forms the core of the game and the stand-up gun battles and general combat is enjoyable, challenging and most things you'd expect from a modern shooter. One particularly nice feature is the RPG-element when it comes to upgrading your weaponry.

"You can barter your way up to an impressive arsenal of ex-military Kalashnikovs or settle for crude but highly effective homemade ordinance and everything in between and it's a particularly nice touch that 50 calibre bullets have become the local currency."

Ammo has become currency? That's kinda a cool idea especially if it's hard to get hold of, forcing you to decide between the two; a few more rounds against the next gang of raiders that come your way or that all important health pack you've been meaning to buy just in case you fall apart?

I really hope the developers actually release a for the most part smoothly running game unlike some of the team's previous efforts on the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." games. I'm very intrigued by this game and the potential for storytelling in the game's setting, yet I remain wary about the issue of quality control.

Having watched a few trailers, this game is turning into a purchase for me. Can't wait to see more. Smile

The screenshots look amazing and the story has me interested, it's just a shame it's on PC and my rig struggled to run STALKER and Fallout 3 on low-mid settings. If I had a better CPU this would be higher on my list.

Is is on PS3 too?

Read a short excerpt about it and I like the premise...
