Xbox 360 Pro and Elite models are to receive price cuts from next week if a Target ad is to be believed. And why wouldn't it? Target is one of the biggest retailers in the US.
Snapped by Engadget, the adverts clearly show price cuts for both machines.
"We just received a pair of pics from 'next week's' Target Ad," says the site. "As has been heavily rumored, the Xbox 360 60GB Pro system will be cut to $250 while the 120GB Elite will drop to $300. Knowing that Target's weekly ads run from Sunday to Saturday we fully expect to see the new pricing go into effect on Sunday the 30th."
isn't the Pro version going up by 30 quid in the UK?
No, it was rumoured that the Arcade model was getting a price hike.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Arcade is filtered out and the Pro takes a slight price cut....that way, all 360s will have a HDD.
Current speculation seems to point towards the Pro going the distance leaving just the Arcade and the Elite with the Arcade moving up to a £160 price point. There have been a few news articles with Arcade and Elite boxes with no mention of a Pro SKU floating around the internet.
Personally I think that not including a HDD in every 360 from launch was a mistake particularly with more games having significant DLC and updates over their lifetime.

Ah, but could that just mean a name change/switch between the Pro and the Arcade?
It'd be really odd if they were to just put the price up £30 without making any changes to the Arcade, which is what made me think that it could be that they're adding a HDD.
Plus, as you point out - it would be far better for all 360's to have a HDD....opens up more of an opportunity to sell DLC and the like.
It's just a theory I had, I could be totally wide of the mark....I've been known to be.
I didn't realise until recently that the Elite was $399 in the USA, so that means the americans were paying more than us brits for once??
I'm surprised the 360 has such a big lead in the USA considering they are so evenly priced over there.
i believe Elite Sales paled in comparison to Arcade and Pro in the US, both of which had a $200 and $100 respective price advantage over the PS3 until the Slim was announced.
