RX3870 512MB OC Edition

Review: 8800GT level performance for £10 less
While the 8800 GT continues to grab headlines, the HD 3870 you see here offers the same levels of performance for £10 less.

Yes, it's a two-slot design requiring a 450W supply, and it is slightly noisier, but there's no noticeable whirr at the desktop. The sense of value you get from saving £10 off the price and gaining an HDMI makes up for any intrusion anyway.

Away from benchmarks, it's impossible to make out any difference between the HD 3870 and 8800 GT, so don't go reading much into any slight disparity in scores. They basically give your games the same amount of grunt.

That said the OC Edition has already been tickled, so if you want to get more from your PC, the 8800 GT's reference design will give you the room you need.

This is a very uninformed article, I thought a professional game website would know better. The 8800GT is a single slot card and uses less power. Saying that an overclocked 3870 is stupid, as that is like comparing an overclocked 8800GT to an 8800GTS. You can still get an 8800GT for the extra 10, and then overclock that to surpass the 3870. I thought this article would be useful...
