THQ has confirmed that Metro 2033 will be out in UK on March 19.
It's the same date across Europe except for Germany, where it'll launch on the same day the US - March 16.
We hopped over to Russia not too long ago to take a look at the game. Here's what we thought:
"Combat naturally forms the core of the game and the stand-up gun battles and general combat is enjoyable, challenging and most things you'd expect from a modern shooter. One particularly nice feature is the RPG-element when it comes to upgrading your weaponry.
"You can barter your way up to an impressive arsenal of ex-military Kalashnikovs or settle for crude but highly effective homemade ordinance and everything in between and it's a particularly nice touch that 50 calibre bullets have become the local currency."
What did the forecast for it being bug ridden like the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R" series come in at since "Metro 2033" is made by some of the same people?
Also, what sort of DRM is it using? Since StarForce originates from Russia it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they opt for that choice, which would mean an instant deal-breaker on my end.
Yeah it's out on the 360! looking forward to seeing this! thou not a clue what the 1st post means! lol
If you ever use a PC for gaming do yourself a favour and do some online research on "digital rights management" (aka. "DRM". "StarForce" is a Russian program that acts as DRM which is supposd to stop piracy (but to date hasn't succeeded whatsoever). What's worse is that StarForce has had numerous reports of actually damaging customers PCs. It's as bad as a virus/trojan/malware.

Thanks in advance PCG.
I thought I read a while back that the people that are involved in this worked on Stalker in its initial stages, then left due to differences with the rest of the team. Fingers crossed it wont be as bad for bugs etc as Stalker but we will see.
As for DRM if they do that then go for the 360 version

My fingers are crossed!
Regarding buying the console version if the PC version does ship with nasty DRM, I'm afraid not. I refuse to spend money on a company that uses extreme DRM setups even if I could play it on a console. Either way I would be supporting the company and its methods. I won't do that. Besides, this is a FPS and the PC's keyboard and mouse are the way such games are meant to be played.
I might actually consider pre-ordering this game. Looks like Fallout 3, but with Russians and it looks a lot more interesting in my opinion, as it isn't a copy of Oblivion

Me too, just don't confuse it as having any rpg elements. From what I understand, it's a plain and simple shooter.
wow, der releasing this on the same day (most likely) as God of War 3, dat'll knock the ps3 sales, but shud sell on 360 and for the fallout bobble heads, a brief diversion. it does look good and will get a few months after down the line, why not!?

Fair enough and I do agree on kbam for FPS's but must admit pad control for them is better than it used to be.
What I liked about the developers, was when, in an interview they were asked about the 'light RPG elements' they came right out and said:
"we could pretend this game was an action-RPG, like so many other publishers do, but at it's core it is a shooter, an there is not enough roleplaying in it to call it an RPG anything. So we are happy to call it a straight forward shooter"
Now that's honesty! Bioshock, Mass Effect, all having more action and less roleplaying, but will they call their games shooters? Hell no, because they might just get a few extra sales - and money is all that matters to the big guys now I think!
