Jaz Rignall returns with official Warcraft mag

Ex-CVG, Mean Machines and ZZAP!64 man is back
Future (that's us by the way) has done a deal with Blizzard to publish World of Warcraft: The Magazine and Jaz Rignall is on board as editorial director.

The Magazine is quarterly and will cover "all aspects of the industry-leading MMORPG, from game content to the players themselves," says our PR man.

The mag will launch simultaneously in English, French, German, and Spanish editions, available via subscription only through World of Warcraft Account Management or direct from www.worldofwarcraftthemagazine.com, which launches this Friday.

"We're bringing together an international team of player-writer experts to create in-depth articles about World of Warcraft's design, art, lore and community, as well as all aspects of its gameplay," said Rignall. "It's really important that our magazine articulates multiple player perspectives, so that the editorial offers balanced - and sometimes even opposing - points of view on winning strategies and tactics."

oh yeah... i forgot that MEAN MACHINES started life as a section at the back of CVG. think i still have the one where they preview sonic the hedgehog on megadrive.. i remember thinking it looked AMAZING.

Does JAZ still have the mullett? Good question. that was a bad hairstyle but beaten by Radion Automatics.

wish i still had my old mean machines mags... something to read while on the bog haha

lol wonder wot happend to Ed Lomas? :)

Bah, Your Sinclair was the mag of choice back in my day. No magazine will ever match that in terms of awesomeness.

And being crap (in a funky skillo sort of way).

Ed Loams, last I remember he did the Official Dreamcast Magazine.

Yeah Mean Machines started as a back section to C&VG. Still have a couple of the old magazines. They then released "Mean Machines: The ultimate guide to videogames". Think there was four released altogether (I have parts 1 & 3). This was the precursor to the launch of the monthly mag.

All of you that are reminiscing over the golden age of video games and the great mags we used to have back then should pay a visit to The Mean Machines Archive if you haven't done so already. As the name suggests it's dedicated to all things Mean Machines but also covers C+VG, MMS, NMS and bits from several other long gone but fondly remembered EMAP mags.

:D
