ARMA II Operation Arrowhead revealed

Sandbox military simulator expands in Germany
Bohemia Interactive will be showing off ARMA II Operation Arrowhead; the standalone expansion pack to ARMA II at Gamescom next week.

"Three years after the conflict in Chernarus, portrayed in the original ARMA II, a new flashpoint in the Green Sea region heats up and coalition forces led by the US Army are sent to Takistan to quickly restore peace and prevent further civilian casualties," says the dev. They had to get the word 'flashpoint' in there.

Of the new expansion, Bohemia explains: "Set into the new, visually attractive environment of hilly central Asia, Operation Arrowhead will offer realistic combat simulation experience in a modern day setting with unprecedented freedom of movement, actions and tactics. Players will enlist into various roles within the US Army, from basic infantrymen, through special operatives, to pilots and tank crew in this new installment in the award winning line up of military simulators for PC from Bohemia Interactive."

majority of the arma II community are pretty pissed off with this news. A game plagued with bugs its pretty much unplayable for me and many others and thats people running it on very high end machines.Patch 1.03 got released the other day ,and on the BIS site 80% of the people asked in a poll were furious with it. It either not sorting original bugs or creating even more. I really thought they would focus on this and the announcement of the expansion is pretty much a slap in the face. Its seems its all about money, money money.I was so looking forward to this game, for such a long time and it became a huge dissapointment. Lets hope OF:DR saves the day.

It annoys me when people claim that Arma 2 is unplayable due to bugs. Ive been playing is since it was released and the bugs I encountered have not ended my enjoyment of the game. The people who complain are all looking forward to dragon rising, so hopefully they buy it and clear off.

For the fear of coming across as a fanboy, im going to leave it at that.

well count yourself lucky you managed to play with no crash to desktops, various other errors. I have tried this on my PC, mates PC, still have problems.ive played OF, arma 1, and now arma 2, was so looking forward to arma 2. I have been a loyal fan of their games, but for a game to be released in such a state is a joke.

I was really looking forward to ARMA2, after all the previews, but I for one will not be buying the expansion, or any other Bohemia game for that matter.

I haven't suffered crashes to the desktop, and I don't play online so I can't speak for it's reliability in that respect (I'll leave that to the kids to play - never liked online play - too many ***** out there). But the campaign game is so heavily bugged it IS unplayable, however annoying 'speciala' may find it. If you enjoy it, great, if it's stable for you, great - but I paid good money for what is essentially a broken product, and Bohemia should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm pretty disgusted that Bohemia would release an expansion without first fixing the original game. They obviously only care about money, and not about producing quality games.

They've only just announced the expansion, so there's plenty of time to fix the main game before they actually release it.

I can only imagine how angry people must be when this game is unplayable dur to crashes. While I'm not a PC gamer, it's missing out on games like this that can make me jealous. At it's best PC gaming is First Class gaming, where as I always see the console as Lower class gaming... probably won't find many console owners agree, but that's not to say it doesn't come with one major advantage... games never as unstable as is possible on the PC. Having very little patience with technology and I don't think I could put up with the some of the issues people are having with this game. I hope they fix it for you soon, if not because I believe one day it might appear on the 360.

Going by how buggy the last game was I was holding off on this one. I will buy it after its 15th patch. releasing an expansion before the core game works is a very very bad idea

the game is unplayable in a way. ive never had low framerates or crashes to desktop and the details r maxed out but over and over again the helo pilot kept crashing into anything he could and so many times ive had to reload a previous save coz the game would just not progress. i stopped playing it and wont start until they have released a crap load more patches. and we all know tht expansion is going to be buggy as hell too.

btw this is kind of old news

OHARA:Works on expansion CG started at january this year at Brno (ALTAR team) and after A2 release, rest of art people in Mnisek connected to that work. Programmers and designers now fixing A2 and branched project, when fixes are released as patches. As expect that design bugs in A2 are near to be solved (most of bugs is now in engine not in design), designers moved/will move to Arowhead. Programers as they work on expansion automaticaly fixing A2 engine, so dont worry.
